ABOUT REARDON & CHASAR
Andrew F. Reardon retired from the practice of law and from Reardon & Chasar on January 1, 2012 and now serves as a business consultant to the firm. He practiced in the area of general business and contract law with emphasis on manufacturing, transportation, labor law, leasing, financing and the purchase and sale of assets and businesses.
Prior to resuming the practice of law in 2009, Andy served as Chairman and CEO of TTX Company in Chicago. TTX is the largest railcar leasing company in North America. Previously, he served as Vice President-Law for TTX, Sr. Vice President-Law for Illinois Central Corporation and Assistant Vice President-Law for Burlington Northern and Senior Tax Counsel for Union Pacific Corporation in New York. Prior to joining the transportation industry in 1977, Andy practiced tax law with Thompson & Mitchell (now Thompson Coburn) in St. Louis. He has practiced in Ohio and several states as well as in numerous federal courts, including The United States Tax Court and The US Claims Court. He has testified on numerous occasions before the Transportation and Commerce Committee of the United States Senate and the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee of the US House of Representatives.
Andy is a 1967 graduate of the University of Notre Dame, a 1974 graduate of The University of Cincinnati College of Law and in 1975, received his LLM in Taxation from Washington University in St. Louis. He served as an officer in The United States Navy for nearly five years including a tour as an engineering officer aboard the aircraft carrier Wasp (CVS 18). He commenced flying in 1967 and is currently an active pilot, holding commercial, instrument, multi-engine ratings.
Matthew R. Chasar practices in areas of business advising, business formation, and commercial and civil litigation. He has substantial experience the wide variety of business situations, transactions, and disputes gained through representing businesses in today’s environment.
Matt’s background is in business and securities litigation, and he regularly appears in state and federal courts. He is licensed in all Ohio courts, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio and Northern District of Ohio, United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Ohio, and the United States Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. Matt has tried cases or argued issues in state trial, probate, and appellate courts, as well as the Ohio Supreme Court, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, the United States Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Ohio. He has also appeared in state and federal trial courts in California, Oklahoma, and Kentucky.
Matt’s litigation experience has provided a wide understanding of many business issues—and made him realize that practical advice before problems develop can lead to the best client outcomes. Now numerous businesses, including those in the construction materials, aggregate, trucking, logistics, entertainment, development, manufacturing, contracting, merchandising, and medical industries now call themselves clients of Reardon & Chasar, LPA.
Matt is a 1998 graduate of Miami University with a B.S. in Finance and 2002 graduate of The University of Cincinnati College of Law. He has been recognized as a Rising Star by Ohio Law and Politics Magazine in 2008, 2009, and 2011. He is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association and Cincinnati Bar Association, and is on the Board of Trustees for Bluegrass for Babies, Inc. He resides in Cincinnati, Ohio with his wife and three daughters.
Joseph M. Sprafka practices in the areas of business advising, business formation and commercial and civil litigation. Joe also engages in the area of tax law, representing clients before the U.S. Tax Court and before the IRS. Joe’s knowledge of the intricacies of tax law provides individuals and small businesses distinct benefits. He is admitted to practice in the state courts of Ohio and Kentucky, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky, U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, and U.S. Tax Court.
Joe was raised in Minnesota before coming to Cincinnati and attending Seven Hills High School. He is a 2002 graduate of The Ohio State University with a B.S.B.A. in International Business and a 2009 graduate of Capital University Law School. Joe is a member of the Cincinnati Bar Association, the Ohio State Bar Association, the Kentucky Bar Association and the American Bar Association. Joe has provided extensive legal work for clients in state and federal courts in Ohio, Kentucky, and Illinois. Joe continues to gain experience and knowledge that provide a competitive advantage for his clients in the courtroom and business market. Joe currently resides in Guilford, Indiana with wife, step-daughter and two sons.
